Flock Studio Collaboration

Last year I had the opportunity to work on a special project with the talented craftsman Jamie Lewis, who has been working as a felt maker since 2003 under the brand name Flock Studio (I highly recommend visiting Jamie's shop in Dublin and/or the Flock Studio online shop). Both Jamie and I share an interest in animals, wildlife and muted earthy colours in our creations. With this in mind, we decided to adapt some of our existing work, inspired by that of each other. At the time Jamie was working on a new extra large-sized whale and I had just finished the Maiden Moose french whale. And so the magic began. Jamie created a Flock studio version of the Maiden Moose french whale (including a beret and scarf) and I reworked the original french whale to include an oatmilk finish.

Here you can see the final result of Jamie’s creation. Below are a few photos of the making process and the original illustration that inspired the creation. It was such a delightful moment to meet the whale in person!

Aren’t they just a thing of beauty? This was the colour inspiration I received for the once off illustration I got to create for Flock studio. Below you can see the adapted illustration. There was only two made of the custom coloured whale (one for Jamie and one for a special giveaway).

This was the final illustration for Flock studio. It was such a wonderful experience to work with Jamie. If you haven't already I highly recommend visiting his website and shop.
